Ban on betting on Vietnam national football team matches
Fearing negativity, all matches of the Vietnam team were removed from the list of matches allowed for legal betting. The viewpoint of the General Department of Sports and Physical Training is highly supported by experts.

Meanwhile, the 5 European leagues, namely the Premier League, La Liga (Spain), Serie A (Italy), Bundesliga (Germany) or Ligue 1 (France), are also not included in the list, as explained by the General Department of Sports and Physical Training as follows: "Some European leagues are internal tournaments of a country, so they do not meet the conditions set by FIFA. Therefore, the General Department of Sports and Physical Training does not include them in the list of permitted betting."
However, matches involving theVietnam men's and women's football teamsBetting is not allowed legally at the ASIAD or SEA Games. Explaining this, General Director of the General Department of Sports and Physical Training Vuong Bich Thang said: "The ban on betting on matches involving the Vietnamese team has been carefully studied by relevant parties. All have a high consensus not to include it in the list of legal betting, because it can easily lead to negativity."
Mr. Pham Ngoc Vien - former Vice Chairman of the Board of Directors of Vietnam Football Joint Stock Company (VPF), who had great contributions in drafting the legal betting plan, emphasized: "Betting on matches involving the Vietnamese team or Vietnamese clubs not only easily leads to negativity, but also loses the trust of fans, not to mention the psychological problems of the players.
The regulation prohibiting betting on matches with the Vietnamese team in the list of matches and football tournaments that are legally bet on in Vietnam is completely correct.

Regarding the implementation of legal football betting, it is known that the Government only allows one enterprise to pilot this type of business for a period of 5 years from the date of licensing. After the pilot period, the Government will summarize and evaluate whether to continue to allow the implementation of this service or not.
People who want to bet on horse racing, dog racing, international football... must be 21 years old and not have any civil conduct restrictions. The currency used to buy betting tickets and pay out prizes in betting business is Vietnamese Dong. The maximum bet is 1 million VND and the minimum is 10,000 VND.
The implementation of this project is not carried out by the General Department of Sports and Physical Training or the VFF, but by the Ministry of Finance and related ministries and branches. The General Department of Sports and Physical Training and the VFF are only beneficiaries.
Thai people do not consider Vietnam national team as a rival at Asian Cup 2019
