The History Teacher's "Dream"

Teacher Ha Thi Thanh Nhan is currently a History teacher at Ky Son Secondary School, district.Tan KyHaving been with the school for nearly 60 years, she is also the first teacher of the school to achieve this noble title... Therefore, the achievement is not only for the individual but also for the school as a whole.

Meeting teacher Ha Thi Thanh Nhan again just a few days after the Decision of recognitionExcellent Teacherjust announced by the President. Unable to hide her joy, she said: “I was not the first person to know this information, but my friends and colleagues knew in advance and congratulated me over the phone... At that time, I couldn't believe it because the title of Excellent Teacher is such a great title. After that, I worried and wondered how I should try now to be worthy of the title that had been awarded...”.

Recalling the whole process of preparing documents to be recognized as an Excellent Teacher, teacher Ha Thi Thanh Nhan said she was lucky because she herself came from a history teacher background, only taught secondary school, in a mountainous school, so she thought her chances were not high. However, many of her colleagues believed that she deserved it and encouraged her to apply because they knew that she was a dedicated teacher and had contributed a lot to the profession. As for herself, she has never regretted choosing Tan Ky as her second hometown and sticking with the job of teaching letters and people in this land with many difficulties.

Teacher Ha Thi Thanh Nhan, born in 1979 and a former student of Nghi Loc 1 High School (now Nguyen Duy Trinh High School). After graduating from high school, she was one of the few female students of the school who passed the entrance exam to the University of Education 1, majoring in History. This was also the job she had dreamed of when she was still in school. However, after graduating from university, instead of teaching at a high school, due to circumstances, she transferred to teach at the secondary level at Nghia Hanh Secondary School (Tan Ky), a school very far from home. Recalling the day she first took up her assignment, teacher Thanh Nhan shared: That was the first time I came to Tan Ky, the roads were still very difficult, and the trees on both sides of the road were dense.

As a fresh graduate, at that time, like many other teachers, she did not think deeply, did not calculate fatigue or hardship. On the contrary, coming to a new environment, being in contact with honest and lovely students further fostered in her love for the profession, love for students and hard work. 4 years working at Nghia Hanh Secondary School was also an opportunity for her to show her passion for the profession and after only 3 years of teaching, she had a student who was excellent in History at the provincial level. That was also the first motivation for her to decide to stay in this land longer for a simple reason: "History is a very difficult subject to learn, but the students here are very passionate and love this subject".

Teaching is spiritual medicine

Coming to Tan Ky since 2000, up to now, teacher Ha Thi Thanh Nhan has been attached to Tan Ky for nearly 20 years. During that time, as a History teacher, she also brought many achievements to the school and the locality. In particular, the most obvious mark is in the provincial and district excellent student competitions. What is special is that although her school is not a key school of the district, it seems that every year she has excellent students in the province. Most recently, at the Provincial Excellent Student Competition in the 2020 - 2021 school year, she had 2 students win third prize.

Mr. Pham Tan Phuong - Deputy Head of the Department of Education and Training of Tan Ky district also highly appreciated this result because each year, the whole Tan Ky district only selects 5 students to be in the excellent student teams. Therefore, to pass the district round to enter the provincial round is a very difficult effort and "if you do not have passion and solid expertise, it is difficult to succeed".

Talking to teacher Ha Thi Thanh Nhan, she also shared that “training excellent students is my passion”. Therefore, although my health is very poor, I feel pressured every year and there was a time when I was “bedridden” and scolded by my husband, but just “going to class and seeing my students” makes me feel better and more energized to complete my work.

To achieve the achievement of 65 excellent students at the district level and 27 excellent students at the provincial level, teacher Ha Thi Thanh Nhan also said that she had to "thank her students very much". Because for many years, History has been considered a minor subject. Therefore, when choosing a team, the History team often has to prioritize students for other teams. Parents also do not want their children to join the History team and choose more practical subjects to make it easier for their children to be admitted to specialized schools. In response to her students' affection, she devoted all her heart to each lesson, each candidate, and passed on all her love for History to her students.

As a teacher who loves her job, teacher Ha Thi Thanh Nhan is not easy on herself. On the contrary, she is passionate about her job and always improves her expertise to avoid falling behind and gain access to new knowledge. Her most obvious achievement is being awarded the title of excellent teacher of the province three times in a row, in which in 2013 she held the valedictorian position. In addition, she has many initiatives at the district and provincial levels that are well evaluated, many of which have been applied in practice and welcomed by many other colleagues.

Teacher Ha Thi Thanh Nhan confided, “Many people may see competitions for excellent teachers or innovative activities as a pursuit for achievements, but I do it out of passion. I even want to participate in recent competitions organized in innovative ways because I want to challenge myself.”

In addition to these competitions, she also participated in other competitions and won second prize in the competition on using tools, guiding students in science and technology innovation competitions, and had 2 integrated thematic teaching products that won first prize and third prize at the national level in the 2015-2016 and 2016-2017 school years.

With her tireless efforts and love for her profession and her students, teacher Ha Thi Thanh Nhan has been honored by the school, the district and the education sector with many awards and certificates of merit. Currently, as the head of the professional group, she regularly advises and directs the professional group to organize extracurricular activities, clubs, creative experiences, and after-school activities that attract a large number of students to participate and help educate students on life skills and values, helping them to be more confident and bold in collective activities.

She is also a pioneer in innovating teaching methods, teaching organization and assessment.
