Super smart dash cam from former Apple engineer
The Owl camera model was developed by Andy Hodge - a former Apple engineer who worked on the first iPhone project - and is now available on the market.
The Owl smart camera is the first product of the startup of the same name. Before founding this startup, Andy Hodge worked for Apple, Microsoft and then Dropcam, a camera startup that was later acquired by Google.
Owl is a security camera for cars but also used to record interesting moments of people sitting in the car.
The product is currently on sale for $349, including a year of 4G service in the US.
Owl is a smart camera that can record front and rear (in the car). |
As a dash cam, Owl can record everything that happens in front of the car. And of course, Owl is a useful tool to deal with traffic police who give wrongful fines. |
The camera can also record inside the car, which is very necessary in case the car is broken into. |
The camera can record fun Owl-style videos called “Carpool Karaoke”. |
And if something happens to your car while you're away, like being hit by another car and running away, you'll get an instant notification on your smartphone. The Owl Camera supports 4G LTE connectivity, making it very convenient. |
The camera can record 24 hours of footage to internal memory and then overwrite it. This ability allows the camera to record every movement in front of and inside the car. |
The clip will be synchronized with the Owl application on the smartphone. Users can cut the clip content as desired, name it and easily send it to friends or post it on social networks. |
The camera uses power from the vehicle's OBD port with a mounting bracket provided by the manufacturer. |
Thanks to 4G network support, when saving videos, the camera can push directly to the cloud storage service instead of sending via Bluetooth to the smartphone. If you want to sync with the smartphone, users just need to scan the QR barcode. |
