Cambodia replaces Phnom Penh military police commander
On July 30, Cambodia appointed Deputy Commander of Military Police, General Pi Sen, to replace Lieutenant General Da Kim Ay as Commander of Military Police in the capital Phnom Penh.
The decision was made just days after the 5th National Assembly election took place on July 28.

Some sources said that General Da Kim Ay was responsible for the conflict between voters supporting the opposition Cambodia National Rescue Party (CNRP) and military police on the outskirts of Phnom Penh during the election, which caused two military police vehicles on duty to be overturned and burned.
The military police did not react to these radical voters. On the evening of July 28, many roads leading to several locations in the capital, including Prime Minister Hun Sen's private residence, were blocked.
One day after the 5th National Assembly election in Cambodia ended, the International Congress of Asian Political Parties (ICAPP) and the Association of Asia-Pacific Democratic Parties (CAPDI) announced that the 5th National Assembly election in Cambodia on July 28 was free, fair, accurate, transparent, and non-violent.
At a press conference held in Phnom Penh on the morning of July 29, CAPDI Chairman Jose Devenecia emphasized that the summary of election monitoring activities showed that the election of the 5th National Assembly of Cambodia was successful, the election results reflected the will of voters, showing that democracy in Cambodia has been consolidated./.
