Cambodia promotes research on building highway connecting with Vietnam

The Royal Government of Cambodia has set a three-month deadline to complete a research project on a key highway connecting to Vietnam.

In a recent meeting to evaluate the research project of the 135km-long expressway connecting the capital Phnom Penh with the international border gate pair Bavet (Svay Rieng province) - Moc Bai (Tay Ninh province, Vietnam), Secretary of State of the Ministry of Public Works and Transport of Cambodia - Mr. So Victor emphasized that this is a vital route, especially important for the Cambodian economy.

State Secretary So Victor said he would give the companies and specialized units three months to complete the studies, evaluations and revisions to the expressway project. He also called on all parties to make efforts to start the construction of the Phnom Penh – Bavet expressway as soon as possible.

The Phnom Penh - Bavet Expressway is planned to be 25.5m wide with two lanes in each direction, starting from Phnom Penh's third ring road, running through Kandal, Prey Veng and Svay Rieng provinces, ending at Bavet city on the Vietnam - Cambodia border.

The project aims to strengthen connectivity and promote economic relations between the two border provinces of Vietnam and Cambodia, especially focusing on boosting import and export between the two sides./.
