Cambodia deploys troops in capital to prevent riots.
On August 9, the opposition Cambodia National Rescue Party (CNRP) protested the government's decision to deploy troops in the capital Phnom Penh.
Several foreign media outlets quoted CNRP spokesperson Yim Sovann as saying: "This is an illegal act of intimidation against the people." Yim Sovann emphasized that the opposition does not want violence and stated that peaceful protests are the last resort if an agreement cannot be reached.

The Cambodian government has deployed soldiers to Phnom Penh, saying they are needed to deal with any violence should protests against the election results erupt.
Local media reported that hundreds of security forces were ordered to the capital on the night of August 8.
