The incident happened in Cha Lan village, Huu Lap commune, Ky Son district (Nghe An) on the afternoon of March 12, 2018.
Currently, a 1.5 liter plastic bottle is being kept at the Ky Son District Police Investigation Agency. Inside the bottle is a reddish-brown liquid that occupies 4/5 of the bottle’s volume. This is identified as the bottle of medicinal wine that the 4 people drank on the afternoon of March 12.
In addition to the plastic bottle containing the wine soaked with wild plants mentioned above, the Ky Son police also seized 4 wine cups and a small package weighing about 0.5 kg containing chopped, dried wild plants. This plant has an unpleasant pungent smell. It is known that the wine bottle that the victims drank was soaked only 3 days before.
According to initial assessment, the bottle of wine soaked in forest plants that the 4 family members drank was taken from the small package that the investigation agency is confiscating.

An investigator said the victims quickly fell into critical condition after drinking alcohol. In particular, Ms. Lo Thi Van only drank one cup of alcohol before going to bed and falling into a coma.
"The victims only drank a little wine, which proves they accidentally soaked a highly poisonous plant," said an investigator.
The victim, Moong Van Muoi, could not even sit up after drinking a few glasses. The 34-year-old man collapsed on the drinking mat before being taken to the emergency room.
