(Baonghean.vn) - Currently, the water wheel (some regions call it a water wheel) in Pha Pat village, Cam Muon commune - Que Phong is considered the largest water wheel in Nghe An province.
This water wheel is used to get water from the Quang River to irrigate nearly 4 hectares of rice fields in Pha Pat village. The wheel is the product of more than 30 people working for 2 days. The diameter of the wheel is approximately 10m. The shaft is more than 20cm in diameter and more than 1m long.
Like other reels, the rope used to tie the parts of the reel is taken from a special tree, called “Hau Ken” in Thai. The characteristic of this type of rope is that the more it comes into contact with water, the stronger it becomes, with a lifespan of 5 to 10 years.
The waterwheel is located next to the inter-commune road connecting Kim Son town (Que Phong) with Chau Thon, Cam Muon, Quang Phong communes... Therefore, visitors can easily recognize the place where the waterwheel "pumps" water day and night.
Below are pictures of the water wheel considered the largest in Nghe An:

The shaft is more than 20cm in diameter and more than 1m long and was meticulously carved by craftsmen. |
 |
The trough used to collect water from the wheel is also taken from a large tree trunk, instead of meter trees, like other small water wheels. |
 |
Dozens of pillars are firmly braced together, tasked with keeping the water wheel from flooding in the high mountains of Western Nghe An. |
 |
Large bamboo panels (Pi pat) serve to block water so that the wheel can rotate day and night, bringing water to the village. |
