In a message to the leaders and people of the Soviet republics a day earlier, Russian President Vladimir Putin once again stressed the importance of preserving the truth about the events of the Great Patriotic War and passing on this knowledge to future generations, as well as nurturing “common spiritual values and traditions of brotherhood.”
This year, the Victory Day parade was held against the backdrop of Russia's special military operation in Ukraine with the aim of demilitarizing the country.
