The iconic ship of the Great October Russian Revolution will undergo a major overhaul at the Admiralty Verfi shipyard over the next two years.
| The cruiser Aurora – a symbol of the great Russian October Revolution – sits inside the onshore repair area at the Admiralty Verfi shipyard, where Kilo-class submarines are being built for the Vietnam People's Navy. |
| Earlier, on September 21, the cruiser Aurora was towed by a large fleet of tugboats from its mooring area of several decades across the Nerva River to the Admiralty shipyard. The journey was watched by thousands of people in St. Petersburg. |
| The repairs at the Admiralty Verfi plant are expected to take two years. Therefore, it is highly likely that the major repairs will be completed in early 2017, in time for the celebrations of the 100th anniversary of the Great October Revolution (1917-2017). |
| Scaffolding has been erected around the hull to begin the major repairs on the 114-year-old ship (launched in 1900). |

| Scaffolding was erected to facilitate repairs. |
| The repairs were likely carried out from the outside of the hull – the area that suffered significant damage from decades of exposure to seawater. |

| The ship was equipped with 14 152mm guns, 4 76mm anti-aircraft guns, machine guns, and 3 torpedo tubes (2 underwater). In the photo, the 152mm gun turret is located at the bow of the ship. |
