(Baonghean.vn) - Since the 60s and 70s of the last century, the whole country has known the specialty Minh Hop oranges of Quy Hop district through Xuan Thanh Farm (now Xuan Thanh Agricultural Company Limited). In the 80s of the 20th century, Xuan Thanh oranges were exported to the former Soviet Union and many Eastern European countries.
Quy Hop orange area currently has nearly 2,000 hectares of oranges, of which Minh Hop commune is the locality with the largest orange area, accounting for more than 50% of the total area of the district with nearly 1,100 hectares.
Currently, with 3 main orange varieties: Van Du, Valencia and Xa Doai, nearly 1,300 households in 21 villages of Minh Hop commune have contributed significantly to preserving and promoting the Vinh Orange brand, while increasing income.
Thanks to orange trees, many people in Minh Hop have become well-off and rich. The average income per capita of the commune in 2014 reached 24.5 million VND. This year it is expected to reach 26.6 million VND/person.
