Need to focus on providing noise protection equipment for workers of Vinh Plastic Packaging Joint Stock Company
(Baonghean.vn) - On the morning of October 23, Vice Chairman of the Provincial People's Council Hoang Viet Duong, as Head of the Provincial People's Council's monitoring delegation, worked with Vinh Plastic Packaging Joint Stock Company on compliance with laws on environmental protection, labor safety and hygiene, and policies for employees at organizations, units and enterprises in Nghe An province in the period of 2016 - 2018.

2 work accidents occurred
Vinh Plastic Packaging Joint Stock Company currently has 1,103 employees, arranged to work at two production facilities, including a production facility in Vinh City with 240 employees working.
Employees at the company are eligible for three types of insurance, including social insurance, health insurance, and unemployment insurance. The cost of these three types of insurance for employees at the facility in Vinh City is more than 1.9 billion VND/year.
In compliance with environmental laws, rainwater and domestic wastewater have a system of ditches, troughs to collect, treat and filter sedimentation tanks at the final discharge point before being discharged into the environment. Annual monitoring results show that wastewater meets the permitted indicators.
Regular solid waste and scrap from the production process are transported to facility 2 in Gia Lach Industrial Park, Nghi Xuan district, Ha Tinh province for recycling and use.
Hazardous waste, mainly oil, grease from machines, greasy rags, broken light bulbs, ink cartridges, etc., are classified, stored in drums and kept in a separate warehouse. Every year, the facility contracts with a competent agency for transportation and treatment.
According to the company's leaders, in the period 2016-2017, the unit had 2 work-related accidents and all workers had their accident records established, were treated and had their health assessed to receive benefits according to regulations.

More attention should be paid to occupational safety.
At the meeting, members of the monitoring delegation asked the company's leaders to clarify a number of issues such as handling noise caused by the production process because the factory is located in a residential area; the number of employees paying insurance is 900 people, while the company's total number of employees is more than 1,100 people...
To clarify these contents, regarding the handling of noise generated from some machines and equipment during the production process, the company has transferred them to Gia Lach Industrial Park, the rest are within the permitted range, and has built a fence with a height of over 6m to shield and minimize noise emitted to residential areas.
Regarding the recommendation of a member of the monitoring team that some positions where workers work with loud machinery noise should be equipped with additional protective equipment, specifically noise-cancelling earplugs, the company's leadership said it would accept and consider it.
Regarding the 900 employees paying insurance, the company's leaders said that the employees who have not paid are those on probation for the new factory. When the probationary period ends and they are officially recruited, they will pay insurance according to regulations.
