Mechanisms are needed to encourage the development of mushroom cultivation models.
(Baonghean)As part of the October 2011 work program, this morning, October 8th, Mr. Dinh Viet Hong, Vice Chairman of the Nghe An Provincial People's Committee, held a working session with Yen Thanh district. He was accompanied by representatives from the Department of Agriculture and Rural Development, the Department of Science and Technology, and the Provincial People's Committee Office.
Prior to the working session with the Yen Thanh District People's Committee, the Vice Chairman and the delegation visited several mushroom cultivation models in Hop Thanh, Nam Thanh, and Khanh Thanh communes. These are three of the four communes selected by Yen Thanh district for the implementation of mushroom production pilot projects, with 20 households participating in each location. To date, after nearly a year of implementation, the models have initially yielded good harvests, and currently, the entire district has 200 participating households. The goal set by Yen Thanh district is to have 1000 households producing mushrooms on a family scale by 2015, 100 households producing on a farm, cooperative, or large-scale farm basis, and 1 to 2 industrial-scale models. Annual fresh mushroom production is expected to reach approximately 50 billion VND, creating regular employment for 1,500 workers and thousands of seasonal workers.

Comrade Dinh Viet Hong worked with the leaders of Yen Thanh district.

Visiting mushroom cultivation models
After visiting the model farm and listening to the report on the project and policies of Yen Thanh district, Comrade Dinh Viet Hong stated that: Introducing mushroom cultivation models into production in Yen Thanh district is reasonable and necessary. The district should focus on organizing production tightly and creating outlets to facilitate the consumption of products by the people. If the project is successfully implemented, it will create a new occupation that brings high income to farmers, serving as a foundation for the successful implementation of the national target program on new rural development. He requested the district to continue its decisive leadership, and relevant departments such as the Department of Agriculture and Rural Development and the Department of Science and Technology to advise the Provincial People's Committee on creating appropriate mechanisms and policies to replicate the model in the district, and eventually expand it to other localities in the province.
