There needs to be a suitable roadmap when merging Population and Family Planning Centers.
(Baonghean.vn) - This is the opinion given at the Workshop to contribute ideas to the draft project of merging the Population - Family Planning Centers of districts, cities and towns into the Medical Centers in Nghe An province, organized by the Provincial Department of Population - Family Planning on the afternoon of May 28.
Currently, Nghe An province has 21 Population - Family Planning Centers with 141 staff working at the centers. In addition, there are 480 people who are Population - Family Planning officials working in communes, wards and towns and about 6,700 population collaborators in villages. Previously, the Population - Family Planning Centers were units under the Department of Population - Family Planning, with the function of implementing technical and professional tasks, communication and education on Population - Family Planning.

The project to merge the Population and Family Planning Centers of districts, cities and towns into the Health Centers in the province aims to reorganize the apparatus, streamline the payroll and restructure the staff and civil servants. Thereby contributing to improving the effectiveness and efficiency of the operations of public health service units in Nghe An province, meeting the requirements of development and innovation of operating mechanisms.
To make the merger effective, many opinions were raised at the workshop, focusing on key issues such as: the name of the center after the merger; the functions and tasks of the centers and the arrangement of staff and civil servants after the merger.

Regarding this issue, some opinions also suggested that the merger implementation process needs to be calculated to avoid affecting population activities at the grassroots level, especially at a time when Nghe An's population work still faces many difficulties and challenges, and has not yet reached the replacement fertility level. Moreover, currently, the merger has no specific instructions from the Ministry of Health, the General Department of Population - Family Planning, and nationwide, only 2/63 provinces and cities have implemented the merger but there is no unified model.
All comments at the workshop will be compiled by the Department of Population and Family Planning and sent to the Department of Health for comments. On that basis, the Department of Health will develop a project to seek comments from relevant departments and branches before submitting it to the Standing Committee of the Provincial Party Committee for consideration.
