What do I need to do to get unemployment benefits?

Many people quit their jobs but do not know how to apply for unemployment benefits.

Unemployment benefits, counseling support, job referrals, vocational training support; training support, training, and improvement of vocational skills to maintain employment for workers. If workers do not participate in unemployment insurance, they will not enjoy unemployment insurance policies, including unemployment benefits during the period of job loss or termination of labor contracts, will not receive counseling, job referrals, information, and more importantly, workers will not receive vocational training funding, which is a fund from the unemployment insurance fund to support workers for no more than 6 months and an average of 1 month depending on each job, so workers will be at a disadvantage.

What procedures need to be done to receive unemployment benefits? In fact, this is a concern of many workers today. Many people quit their jobs but do not know how to do the procedures to receive unemployment benefits.

To receive unemployment benefits, employees must ensure the procedures prescribed in Article 16 of Decree 28/2015 of the Government, such as the original or certified copy of documents confirming the termination of the labor contract or the second work contract, the social insurance book has been confirmed by the social insurance agency regarding participation in unemployment insurance.

After more than 7 years of implementation, the unemployment insurance policy is considered a "lifebuoy" for workers in the current volatile socio-economic situation. It is worth noting that after the decision to benefit from this policy, many workers went to the authorities to receive unemployment benefits, ignoring other practical support such as vocational training support and job referrals.

“In disseminating legal policies, in the past, when we went to propagate, we mainly propagated to the employers. In my opinion, we need to have direct dialogue with employees so that employees are more fully aware of the meaning and content of the unemployment insurance policy so that they can actively participate, without limiting the cases where employees and employers agree to evade paying unemployment insurance or underpay, leading to impacts on employees' rights" - Mr. Vu Quang Trung, Deputy Director of the Department of Employment, Ministry of Labor, War Invalids and Social Affairs.

According to the Vietnam General Confederation of Labor, the number of people participating in unemployment insurance is 11,390,000, an increase of 7.4% compared to the same period in 2016. Every year, about 4 - 5 million people enjoy short-term social insurance policies; 150,000 enjoy long-term policies and nearly 3 million people receive monthly pensions and social insurance benefits.

This is a policy that not only benefits employees and employers. However, if this policy is not fully publicized, not understanding the benefits related to unemployment insurance will be a great disadvantage for the above subjects./.
