Stepfather dies while trying to stop wife and son from fighting
While trying to stop his wife's stepson and his wife from fighting, the man was stabbed in the heart by a pair of scissors from his son-in-law, leading to his death.
On July 14, the People's Court of Ho Chi Minh City held a first-instance trial of defendant Tran Bao Loc (born in 1980, residing in District 1, Ho Chi Minh City) for the crime of "involuntary manslaughter".
According to the indictment, on the evening of June 28, 2015, Tran Bao Loc's family held a birthday party for their son at a restaurant in District 1, Ho Chi Minh City. After the party, on the way home, Loc and his wife argued because Loc was jealous that his wife had a new lover.

When they got home, the couple continued to argue, leading to a fight. Angry, Loc went into the kitchen, grabbed a pair of scissors and tried to cut his wife's hair. Seeing this, Mr. Nghia (Loc's wife's stepfather) stepped in to stop them. During the fight, the scissors in Loc's hand stabbed Mr. Nghia.
Although his family discovered him and took him to the hospital for emergency treatment, the victim did not survive due to the severity of his injuries. On June 29, 2015, Loc was temporarily detained to investigate the above murder.
The panel sentenced defendant Tran Bao Loc to 1 year and 15 days in prison (equal to the time the defendant was detained) and released the defendant right in court.
