The man arrested by the RCMP on Tuesday was Awso Peshdary, 25. He is accused not only of recruiting members for the war in Syria and Iraq but also of facilitating terrorist group activities, including providing funding.

According to police records, Peshdary was first arrested in 2010 as part of an investigation into an extremist organization linked to terrorist branches in Afghanistan and Pakistan. The organization had planned attacks in Canada. However, due to a lack of evidence, police released Peshdary shortly afterward.

On Monday, police arrested a man at Montreal airport suspected of traveling abroad to "participate in terrorist activities." Three days earlier, another man had been placed under police custody for the same reason.

Additionally, the RCMP stated that two other men, 23-year-old Khalib Khadar and 24-year-old John Maguire, are also under police surveillance. If Awso Peshdary's plan succeeds, these two will leave the country and join the ranks of ISIS. The RCMP has issued nationwide arrest warrants for these two individuals.

In October, Canadian security forces released a list of approximately 90 individuals who could pose a danger in Canada and abroad. On Tuesday, the RCMP pledged to make more arrests of these dangerous individuals. Given the rise of extremist terrorism, the Canadian government has repeatedly expressed concerns about the risk of attacks by lone wolves who have converted to Islam.
