Nghe An province has 4 fishing ports, 6 fishing wharves, and 5 storm shelters for boats. Among them, Lach Quen in Quynh Thuan commune, Quynh Luu district, is deteriorating and no longer meets the growing needs of fishermen. Fishermen often have to wait a whole day for the tide to rise before they can enter the port. Due to a lack of dredging, the water level is very low, making it difficult for boats to enter and exit when the tide is low.

According to Mr. Nguyen Duc Dong, the port manager, several aspects of Lach Quen port are deteriorating, such as erosion of the port surface and the collapse of some fenders. The port is cramped and cannot accommodate the 800 large vessels that dock daily, not to mention smaller boats.

In the future, fishermen will invest in building more large boats with powerful engines, making port upgrades a pressing need.
