(Baonghean) - The weather in the seaport area is always harsh, with scorching sun in the summer and cold winds in the winter. However, more than 300 officers and workers of Nghe Tinh Port still stay at the port day and night, receiving and unloading large tons of cargo, contributing positively to the socio-economic development of Nghe An province.
To improve working conditions for workers and quickly release ships to meet the requirements of the integration period, the leaders of Nghe Tinh Port boldly modernized cargo handling equipment step by step.

In August, the sun was scorching at Cua Lo port. Overcoming the harsh weather, hundreds of workers at Nghe Tinh Port still worked diligently, moving motorbikes, loading and unloading cranes to load and unload goods professionally and accurately. The work of port workers is so hard, but each person feels proud to play a role as a link in the circulation of goods from the locality, from neighboring provinces and from abroad... contributing significantly to promoting production, business, and increasing competitiveness for enterprises.
Mr. Tran Van Tu - Chairman of Nghe Tinh Port Union said: "A port worker's shift is regulated to be 6 hours. A day is divided into 4 shifts, including night shifts, but in this weather, few people can work continuously for 6 hours, so we have to arrange reasonable breaks for workers to rest and reproduce effectively...". The Union Chairman's sharing contains understanding and love...
The joy of the staff and workers of Cua Lo Port was overflowing when in early August 2017, the largest crane in the North Central region, called the Terex Gottwwald mobile shore crane, with a maximum lifting capacity of up to 100 tons and a working range of up to 46m, was directly imported by the port leaders from Germany to increase working capacity and quickly release goods for ships. The value of this crane is 85 billion VND and was directly installed, tested and transferred to port workers for operation by German experts. The crane is equipped with a tire chassis that can move flexibly in the port and yard area, with the ability to quickly change the lifting mechanism, the crane is suitable for flexible loading and unloading.
Another advantage is that the crane is designed and manufactured to ensure good operation in hot and humid tropical areas with strong storms, and can withstand the effects of wind, sea water, etc. With the largest investment in cranes in the North Central region, Nghe Tinh port has scored points with customers.
General Director of Nghe Tinh Port, Mr. Le Doan Long said: Production and business are increasingly difficult, the appearance of many new ports such as Nghi Son port, Vung Ang port, and even Tuan Loc port next door, The Vissai port... will be a big challenge for the unit. That requires Nghe Tinh Port to increasingly improve its cargo handling capacity according to customer requirements. Besides the above mentioned mobile shore crane, loading and unloading equipment at the port is increasingly being modernized.
The port also has Q50 crawler crane, 60T crawler crane, KC4561 crane (KPAZ7); 40T pedestal crane; 50T hydraulic crawler crane (KH180); 40T pedestal crane frame, 2 sets of grab frames, hundreds of excavators, loaders, grabs, trailers, tractors, trucks, warehouses, yards and many modern machinery and equipment to serve loading and unloading of goods... The invested equipment is showing its effectiveness and efficiency, reducing costs, labor, increasing labor productivity by 10 - 15%.

Of which: Export goods reached 560,946 tons, an increase of 36.3% over the same period in 2016 and reaching 53.3% of the assigned plan; transit goods reached 50,520 tons, reaching 81.97% over the same period, imported goods reached 49,815 tons, reaching 68.9% over the same period, domestic goods reached 1,019,719 tons, an increase of 8% over the same period; Container cargo throughput reached 30,032 TEU equivalent to 534,973 tons, up 3.8% over the same period in 2016 and reaching 46.5% of the assigned plan. Revenue from production and business activities in the first 6 months of 2017 reached 80,315 million VND.
With a tradition of nearly 100 years of formation and development, Nghe Tinh Port has always been proud to be a strategic location and a maritime trading center of the North Central region. The heroic and resilient tradition in fighting to protect the Fatherland and in labor production has been promoted by generations of cadres and employees of Nghe Tinh Port in the period of integration and development.
Nghe Tinh Port (Nghe Tinh Port Joint Stock Company) is planned by the Government to become a national type I port, serving the socio-economic development of the region and inter-regions, with a scale of 8 berths allowing ships from 30,000 to 50,000 tons to enter and exit the port, with a loading and unloading capacity of 5 - 6 million tons/year. |
