The endless green sugarcane fields in Tan Ky

Tan Ky is known for its large area of sugarcane plantations. The vast, lush green sugarcane fields are a beautiful sight.

Tan Ky is a mountainous district, but it has a considerable area of fertile land suitable for growing various annual agricultural crops, with sugarcane being the main crop. Every year, with the support policies of Song Con Sugarcane Joint Stock Company, people in Tan Ky district invest in expanding sugarcane cultivation, most notably in the inland communes of Giai Xuan, Tan Hop, Tan Xuan, Tien Ky, Dong Van, Tan Phu, etc. (In the photo: A corner of a sugarcane field at the foot of the mountains in Tan Hop commune. Currently, sugarcane in Tan Ky is in the stage of elongating and growing taller. To ensure good quality sugarcane, farmers are stripping off all the old leaves in the fields to reduce pest and disease damage and allow the sugarcane to absorb more sunlight, thus increasing sugar content. Improving sugarcane productivity and quality has always been a priority for both the factory and the district. Therefore, introducing new sugarcane varieties is a top priority for the sugarcane growing area. Currently, two new sugarcane varieties, LK92-11 and K3, are widely planted in Tan Ky. mia 10 — Not only are land preparation, planting, and harvesting mechanized, but the sugarcane growing area in Tan Ky district also applies unmanned aerial vehicles (drones) to spray pesticides to control pests and diseases. According to Song Con Sugarcane Joint Stock Company, approximately 3,000 hectares of sugarcane are sprayed with pesticides annually using drones, aiming to reduce costs for sugarcane growers and eliminate pests more effectively and comprehensively.
