December 6, 2017 09:57

After a few “Viettel uncles” were arrested, the scam of giving away free scratch cards on Facebook has somewhat decreased. However, recently a new form of fraud has appeared through the livestream feature, the main purpose is still to steal Facebook accounts.

1. Fraud through livestream

The livestream feature allows users to live stream product launches, music events or outings with friends. In terms of advantages, livestream helps to erase the distance between many people in real time, easily exchange work... However, some people have taken advantage of this feature to spread malicious content, gamble online or steal other people's Facebook accounts.

When accessing Facebook, it is not difficult to find live stream videos containing sensitive images. Usually the content will only have a few introductory lines and a shortened link below to entice viewers to click.

If you click on it, you will be redirected to a fake Facebook login page with the same interface as the “official” page, but the address is completely unfamiliar. If you are naive enough to log in, your account will immediately be taken over by a scammer and used for many bad purposes such as spamming others, stealing personal information, or selling your account.

According to records, the buying and selling of Facebook accounts on the Internet is very busy, a newly created Facebook account will cost about 1,500 VND, on the contrary, accounts with many friends will cost higher, from 3,000 VND or more.

In general, this type of scam is not new, only the approach and suggestion are different. In fact, on Facebook there are many other forms of scams such as posting sensational, shocking articles to lure you to click. Posting products for sale at "cheap as free" prices, users only need to like the fanpage, share the article and leave personal information to buy the product.

In just a short time, these fraudulent fanpages will have a certain number of likes. When they achieve their goal, they will change the fanpage name and sell it to those in need for a few million VND. The initial personal information will be resold to third parties such as insurance, real estate, etc.

2. View other people's Facebook messages without password?

Recently, on Facebook, there is a trick to view other people's messages without knowing the password. To use it, you need to register an account for 150,000 VND/year with a phone card.

If you do, personal information such as phone number, email address and scratch card code will be taken by others. Similarly, when you click to see other features like Spying on Zalo messages, Unlocking accounts on the website, you will receive a request to log in with your Facebook account?!

How to spot scams?
