Police broke down the motel door and arrested a cunning drug lord.

Vinh City Police have just broken up a drug trafficking ring from Laos to Vinh City, temporarily detaining 3 subjects for buying, selling, and transporting 1,400 synthetic drug pills.

Previously, at around 2:30 p.m. on April 1, the police suddenly raided Binh Loi motel (Vinh city) and arrested Phan Huy Phuong (born 1983) and Nguyen Duc Chuyen (born 1992), both residing in Son Phu commune, Huong Son district (Ha Tinh) when they had just come down to the lobby of the motel. After controlling these two subjects, the detectives continued to the 2nd floor, kicked down the door of room 207 and arrested Nguyen Van Hai (born 1982), residing in hamlet 2, Son Giang commune, Huong Son district (Ha Tinh).

Searching the two suspects, the police seized 1,400 synthetic drug pills weighing 134 grams. The police also seized 2 motorbikes, 3 mobile phones and 2.6 million VND.

The police determined that this was a large drug ring that regularly went to Laos to buy drugs, mainly opium, to supply to Ha Tinh and Vinh City. In this ring, Nguyen Van Hai was the leader. Phuong and Chuyen were Hai's juniors, tasked with delivering goods to customers under the direction of this boss.

Previously, to break this case, a reconnaissance team had to stay undercover for a month at the Vietnam-Laos border to monitor the movements and methods of operation of this ring. Hai was a cunning subject, so after going to Laos to buy drugs, he often followed small-scale routes to bring the goods back.

Although he had a house in Son Giang commune, Hai rarely returned home and rented a room in Pho Chau town, Huong Son district (Ha Tinh) to hide the goods. When he found a source, Hai did not directly deliver the goods but hired two trusted underlings.

Hai rode his motorbike to Vinh City first, scouted the area, and fooled the authorities. After agreeing on the delivery location, he called his underlings to bring the goods and then waited at the hotel for them to bring the money.

An investigator said that when he arrived in Vinh City, Hai initially rented a room at a hotel in Truong Thi Ward (Vinh City). After staying for about a day, Hai checked out and rented a room at Binh Loi Motel. The detectives had to split into two groups to monitor the movements of Hai and his subordinates.

When arrested, Hai denied the crime and claimed that he did not know Phuong and Chuyen. However, with the solid evidence presented by the police, Hai had to bow his head and admit his crime.

Vinh City Police are completing documents to prosecute 3 subjects for illegally buying, selling and transporting drugs.
