Kiev police have searched for video footage from surveillance cameras at the home of journalist Arkady Babchenko before he was killed, Gromadskoye TV channel reported, citing the Ukrainian Interior Ministry.

According to the TV channel, Ukrainian law enforcement officers arrived at the victim's house at 5 a.m. The reason for such a visit is unknown.
On Tuesday evening in Kiev, journalist Arkady Babchenko was shot several times in the back while returning home from the store.
Ukrainian police have opened an investigation into the attempted murder. Several theories are being considered.

A friend of Babchenko, Yuri Matsarskiy, believes that the journalist was killed by a professional assassin.
The Investigative Committee has opened a criminal case into the murder of the Russian. The Russian Foreign Ministry has called on the Ukrainian authorities to make every effort to investigate the incident. The Russian foreign ministry noted that the level of violence and murders of journalists in Ukraine is steadily increasing.
