US police in a recent statement confirmed that they will question Cristiano Ronaldo about the accusation of raping a model in Las Vegas.

  • Las Vegas police want to question Ronaldo about the suspicion that the Juventus superstar raped former model Kathryn Mayorga, 34, in June 2009.

Ronaldo strongly denied the accusation, saying he was against "rape" because it was a "despicable crime" that went against who he was and what he believed in. The 5-time Ballon d'Or winner insisted that he and Mayorga had "a relationship" with mutual consent.

The case was reopened after Mayorga reported it to the Las Vegas Police Department in August, despite the fact that the former model had previously received £287,000 ($377,000) from Ronaldo to sign a "silence" agreement.

"We have not set a time to interview Cristiano Ronaldo... but at some point, we will have to hear from him," a Las Vegas police spokesman recently announced.

Meanwhile, Ronaldo's family spoke out for the first time on October 9 about the suspicion that the superstar raped Mayorga.

Through social networks, the mother and sister of the 33-year-old superstar, Dolores Aveiro and Katia Aveiro, respectively, launched a campaign to "demand justice for CR7". Accordingly, these two women posted a picture of Ronaldo in a superhero costume, and called on everyone to share this picture with the hashtag #Justice for CR7 to together demand justice for the Portuguese superstar.
