North-South Expressway, Dien Chau - Bai Vot section, has 32 bridge works.

According to the design, the Dien Chau - Bai Vot expressway has its starting point (Km430+000), behind the intersection with National Highway7 (End point of the Nghi Son - Dien Chau section investment component project), located in Dien Cat commune, Dien Chau district, Nghe An province. End point (Km479+300), behind the intersection with National Highway 8A, in Duc Thinh commune, Duc Tho district, Ha Tinh province.

Route direction goes south from the intersection with National Highway7 The route cuts through the Southeast economic zone (intersecting with N1 and N2 roads of the Southeast economic zone), the route follows Chach mountain gorge, crosses Xuan Duong lake, then crosses Than Vu mountain, the route continues to the South and cuts across Nam Cam industrial park (intersecting with N5 road of Nam Cam industrial park and old QL48E - DT534).

The route continues to go in a southeast direction, east of Luoi Hai mountain, intersecting with National Highway 46B to avoid Vinh city; continues to go parallel about 50m from Vinh bypass, intersecting with the current National Highway 46, crossing DT542C and crossing Thong Nhat railway in Hung Thang commune, Hung Nguyen district, passing through the gap between Thanh mountain and Non mountain, crossing Lam river and National Highway 46C on the left at the border of Hung Phu and Hung Khanh communes, crossing Lam river dike on the right and intersecting with National Highway 8A, the end point is after the National Highway 8A intersection, in Duc Thinh commune, Duc Tho district, Ha Tinh province.

The road is built as a class 100 - 120 highway, with a design speed of 100-120 km/h (according to TCVN Highway Standards), with the section passing through Than Vu Mountain having a design speed of 80 km/h; the investment phase has a scale of 04 lanes, a speed of 80 km/h. The completed phase of the highway has a scale of 6 lanes, with a roadbed width of 32.25 m. The route length is about 49.3 km.

On the Dien Chau - Bai Vot section, there are a total of 32 bridge constructions, including: 23 bridges on the highway, 5 overpasses directly connecting with the highway, 3 bridges in interchanges and 01 bridge on the service road.

Bridges on the main route are 17.5 km wide, including: Nhan Ly Bridge, Xuan Duong 1 Bridge, Xuan Duong 2 Bridge, Than Vu 1 Bridge, Than Vu 2 Bridge, O O Bridge, Nghi Phuong 1 Bridge, Nghi Phuong 2 Bridge, Nghi My Bridge, Hung Trung 1 Bridge, Hung Trung 2 Bridge, Hung Yen Nam Bridge, Hung Tay Bridge, QL46B Overpass, Old QL46 Overpass, Song Dao 1 Bridge, Song Dao 2 Bridge, Song Dao 3 Bridge, Provincial Road 542C Bridge, Hung Thang 1 Bridge, Hung Thang 2 Bridge, Hung Thang 3 Bridge, Hung Duc Bridge.

Bridge on the service road: Nhan Ly Bridge, 15m wide.

Interchange bridge: Intersection with N5 road (12m wide), QL46B intersection (20.5m), QL8 intersection (16.5m), intersection with N5 road.

Total investment capital of Dien Chau - Bai Vot expressway project is about 13,338 billion VND. Compensation, support and resettlement costsabout 1,303 billion VND (section through Nghe An province: 1,100 billion VND, section through Ha Tinh province: 201 billion VND).

Thus, the North-South Expressway through Nghe An has two component projects, including the expressway project from Nghi Son to Dien Chau and the project from Dien Chau - Bai Vot. The two projects will be implemented in the 2017-2020 period.
