(Baonghean.vn) - From the beginning of April, the Provincial Center for Malaria, Parasite, and Insect Control directed 17 out of 20 district, city, and town health centers to simultaneously launch a campaign to treat mosquito nets with chemicals for the people earlier than in previous years in order to promptly prevent malaria from occurring and breaking out into an epidemic.

According to the assessment of the Provincial Center for Malaria, Parasite, and Insect Control, the malaria situation is on the rise: the number of malaria patients increased by 2.1%, the rate of malaria parasites increased by 71%, and notably, the rate of imported malaria parasites increased to 76.7%. The migration situation is becoming more complex, especially the number of workers carrying imported malaria parasites from Angola, which is a risk factor requiring special monitoring. The malaria situation is predicted to continue to worsen.

This time, the Center has provided 5,110 liters of ICON chemical to treat mosquito nets for 730,000 people throughout the province.

People voluntarily brought their mosquito nets to be treated with chemicals.

It is known that Do Luong is one of the districts that has implemented the malaria prevention campaign effectively. Currently, the district has deployed the campaign in 8 communes in the malaria-prone areas. The district's Preventive Medicine Center, in coordination with the commune health stations, has planned and assigned staff to each hamlet to provide guidance and treat mosquito nets with chemicals for the people.

Health workers in Tru Son commune (Do Luong district) help local people treat mosquito nets.

According to a quick report from the District Preventive Health Center, from the first day of the campaign (April 9th to April 15th) in Tru Son, Dai Son, My Son, and Nhan Son communes, thanks to effective public awareness campaigns, nearly 100% of households voluntarily brought their mosquito nets to be treated with chemicals to prevent malaria. The campaign to treat mosquito nets with chemicals will be implemented by the health stations in the remaining communes until April 30th.

Clearing the bushes

In addition to impregnating mosquito nets, districts, cities, and towns also collaborated with mass organizations, youth groups, women's groups, schools, and villages to conduct general environmental sanitation, clear drainage ditches, clear overgrown bushes, hang up slogans for widespread propaganda, and integrate blood sampling, examination, and treatment of malaria patients.
