The terrible flash flood struck on September 10 when children were still sleeping and adults had not yet gone to the fields... An atmosphere of grief enveloped the small village that had been settled for a long time, now lying in disarray amid the raging flood.

On the morning of September 11, one day after a terrifying flash flood buried the entire village of Lang Nu, Phuc Khanh commune, Bao Yen district (Lao Cai province), an atmosphere of mourning enveloped the entire poor countryside.

Right at the entrance of Lang Nu village were the bewildered faces of people looking for their relatives, strangers from neighboring villages who heard the news and came to help, their eyes red, watching the water and mud flow helplessly.

With 5 relatives affected by the flash flood, Mr. Hoang Van Thoi sat with a bewildered face, looking into the distance. This flash flood took away the people he loved the most: his old mother, wife and 3 young children.

This breadwinner, who had gone through many hardships, could not hold back his tears as this loss was irreplaceable. Sitting next to the bodies of his three young children, Mr. Thoi could not speak.

Like Mr. Thoi, for many people in Lang Nu village, after the terrible flash flood on September 10, it is difficult to make up for the losses they have experienced.

Disaster struck when the children had not yet slept soundly, the adults had not yet gone to the fields, the elderly were waiting for the weather to clear so they could help their children and grandchildren clean their houses... The small village that had long been settled, in harmony with nature at the foot of Con Voi Mountain, just like that, disappeared with the flood waters.
