(Baonghean.vn) – Frustrated when his child had acute diarrhea but the supermarket and distribution company did not keep their promise, Mr. Cuong went to the supermarket and threw the milk out onto the street.

“I have diarrhea 15 times a day”

There is a lot of conflicting information surrounding the incident where customers accused Tu Bac supermarket (77, Dinh Cong Trang, Vinh City) of selling poor quality milk. In particular, on social networks, parents are fiercely arguing about the quality of milk at the supermarket.

It is known that the man in the clip is Mr. Nguyen Canh Cuong (born in 1988, residing in Ha Huy Tap ward, Vinh city). Mr. Cuong said that at the end of May 2016, he went to Tu Bac store (77 Dinh Cong Trang, Vinh city) to buy the third box of Glico milk for his son at the price of 535,000 VND/box.

According to Mr. Cuong, he had previously bought 2 boxes of milk here and his child used them normally. However, when the third box of milk was almost half used up, the child had continuous diarrhea. On May 28, Mr. Cuong took his child to the hospital for examination and the doctor prescribed medicine for home treatment.

Suspecting that there was a problem with the milk box because the baby did not use breast milk, the baby had not started eating solid food, and the only daily food was Glico milk, Mr. Cuong checked the milk box and discovered a strange blue object inside, and the milk had formed into lumps. Mr. Cuong stopped feeding his baby and brought the milk box to Tu Bac supermarket. There, the owner of Tu Bac supermarket and Mr. Cuong took pictures and recorded the incident.

On the afternoon of May 30, Mr. Cuong's son was admitted to Vinh International Hospital with severe diarrhea. "He had diarrhea continuously, 15 times a day, he was dehydrated and very thin. The doctor's test results said: He had acute diarrhea. I suspect the cause of my son's diarrhea is Glico milk. My son has not been able to gain weight since he was admitted to the hospital. When I feed him every day, he keeps vomiting," said Mr. Cuong.

Company representative broke promise?

After receiving the supermarket's notice, on May 29, a representative of SnB Distribution Company Limited (Song Hong Building, No. 2 Tran Hung Dao Street, Hanoi) came to work with Mr. Cuong's family. Here, the company representative wanted to take the milk box to assess the quality. Sharing the reason for not agreeing to let the company take samples, Mr. Cuong said that the family requested that the assessment must be witnessed by all 3 parties to be objective and only then could the exact cause of my child's diarrhea be found.

Also at this meeting, the company representative said that the company gave the family 2 cartons of milk in exchange for the carton of milk with the foreign object. If anything happens to the child after drinking it, they should report it to the company. However, Mr. Cuong did not accept the 2 cartons of milk and only agreed to accept 2 packs of diapers, saying that he did not feel secure about continuing to let his child use the company's milk. The company left and said that they would notify the customer of a solution.

However, after nearly a month, the company still did not contact Mr. Cuong's family to find a solution. Until July 13, the representative of the distribution company, the owner of Tu Bac supermarket, met with Mr. Cuong's family at a coffee shop in Vinh City. The representative of the distribution company recorded the opinions and suggestions of the family. Specifically, the family requested an appraisal of the milk box containing foreign objects in Nghe An or another unit in Hanoi. Commitment that the child's future health will not be affected in the long term.

On the morning of July 14, the three parties continued to meet and negotiate. This time, Mr. Cuong's family brought the Glico milk box for the representative of this milk company to take pictures and record more opinions. "The milk company's people, Mr. Phong and Mr. Hoang, scheduled an appointment at 2:00 p.m. on July 14 to take Phat and his family to the best hospital in Hanoi for a health check. At the same time, the whole milk box was taken for examination in Nghe An and brought to Hanoi for further examination," said Mr. Cuong.

However, according to Mr. Cuong, the company did not fulfill its promise and returned to Hanoi without informing his family. Because of his anger, Mr. Cuong and his wife went to Tu Bac store, argued with the store owner, and bought 5 boxes of Glico milk and threw them on the street.

''I was so upset, my family had made concessions time and time again, but the milk company just wanted to probe and put others in a difficult position. After that, my family called the Le Mao Ward Police to make a record and record the incident," said Mr. Cuong.
