During the repair period, the transmission channels of network operators will be affected, leading to slow international Internet connections. To overcome this, some Internet providers will switch connections to other channels to ensure some transmission quality.
In early August, the AAG submarine cable suffered a double breakdown, slowing down Internet access from Vietnam to foreign countries for more than half a month. Previously, this submarine cable was broken in March and June 2016, affecting network connections for several days. In 2015, AAG also suffered at least three breakdowns.
AAG is currently Vietnam's main international Internet route. There are 4 domestic companies investing in this project including FPT Telecom, Viettel, VNPT, SPT, out of a total of 19 companies working together to build it.
