Removing a tumor in the buttocks weighing more than 1 kg for a nearly 90-year-old woman

(Baonghean.vn) - On August 3, Dr. Vi Van Hung - Head of Surgery Department of Tan Ky District Medical Center said that he had just successfully performed surgery on a woman with a large tumor in her buttocks.

Mrs. Pham Thi Bay (88 years old, living in Tan Huong commune, Tan Ky district) was hospitalized with difficulty moving and unable to walk.

Immediately after that, she was consulted by doctors and performed paraclinical methods such as ultrasound, X-ray, blood test. The results showed that the patient had a rare and quite large tumor in the buttocks.

On the afternoon of August 2, the medical team of the District Medical Center performed surgery continuously for more than 2 hours. As a result, the tumor measuring 18x20 cm and weighing more than 1 kg was successfully removed.

Currently, Mr. Bay's health is stable. It is known that the tumor appeared in Mr. Bay's buttocks for more than 10 years, but due to difficult family circumstances and old age, the patient refused to go to the doctor.

When the tumor grew larger and more painful, it made daily activities difficult, and Mrs. Bay could not even lie on her back while sleeping. Therefore, her children and grandchildren took her to the District Medical Center to examine and remove the tumor. It is expected that in about a week, the patient will be discharged from the hospital./.
