The comedian admitted her mistake in reporting false news about the epidemic. Cat Phuong apologized to the audience and affirmed that she will strictly comply with the law.
Cat Phuong said she went to the Department of Information and Communications of Ho Chi Minh City to work after posting false news about the Corona virus. On her personal page, the comedian admitted that she was wrong for sharing the article and writing incorrectly about the epidemic situation.
"Cat apologized for writing that the government does not care about the people. Cat admitted that she was wrong for sharing the wrong article when no one in districts 1, 3, 5, and 7 had been infected yet. Cat apologized very much," Cat Phuong wrote.
In the minutes of the meeting with the Department, Cat Phuong explained that on January 26, after reading an article related to the Corona virus epidemic, she shared on Facebook, and recorded her personal feelings: "What can I say? Please think of the people first, and also think of yourself. The epidemic has reached District 1, and will spread to District 3, District 5, District 7."
Cat Phuong admitted that she was wrong to report emotionally about the epidemic. |
However, after verifying that the above information was not true, Cat Phuong apologized and removed the post. The comedian hopes that the Department of Information and Communications of Ho Chi Minh City will consider and handle the case lightly. She pledges to comply with the law.
The Department believes that the article "What can I say? Please think of the people first, which is also thinking of yourself. The epidemic has reached District 1, and will spread to District 3, District 5, District 7" posted on Cat Phuong's Facebook negatively affects social order, violating Point e, Clause 1, Article 5 of Decree No. 72/2013/ND-CP of the Government on management, provision, and use of internet services and network information. The actress later removed the incorrect information and publicly apologized in the newspaper.
Finally, the Inspector of the Department of Information and Communications of Ho Chi Minh City requested Cat Phuong to comply with the legal regulations on posting news online and to be responsible for correcting the incorrect information posted on her personal page.
The Department said that Cat Phuong must be responsible for being administratively punished for providing false information, causing negative impacts on social order according to Point a, Clause 3, Article 64 of Decree 174/2013/ND-CP of the Government regulating administrative sanctions in the fields of post and telecommunications, information technology and radio frequencies.
