Nghe An boy sings Southern folk songs and captivates the audience
(Baonghean.vn) - In the program "Tuyet Dinh Duet Ca Nhi" broadcast on Vinh Long Television on the night of May 30, a boy from Nghe An province won over the judges and the audience with a very sweet Southern folk song. He is Nguyen Van Bao Cuong (12 years old), a 6A student at Nghia Phuc Secondary School, Tan Ky district.
“Duet Dinh Nhi” is a music playground, searching and developing singing talents of children from 6 to 14 years old, organized by Vinh Long Television in collaboration with a number of companies. The judges are a trio of famous artists Cam Ly - Dai Nghia, Doan Trang - Thanh Bach, Thu Trang - Duong Trieu Vu.
The program has started the recruitment process many months ago across the country. Many young talents have gathered in Hanoi, Da Nang, Can Tho, Bac Lieu and Ho Chi Minh City to register and compete. The program is broadcast at 9pm every Tuesday on THVL1 starting from May 23. Participating in “Tuyet Dinh Duet Nhi” 2017, there are 2 young people from Nghe An.
In episode 2 of “Tuyet dinh song ca nhi” broadcast on the night of May 30 on THVL1, Bao Cuong performed the song “Cau ho dieu ly con day” by Le Minh. As soon as the first verse was sung, he received cheers and applause from everyone. Throughout the song, there was a sweet, clear Southern accent.
More surprisingly, at the end of his performance, Bao Cuong introduced himself as “I come from Nghe An”, making many judges exclaim “Oh my god, you guys thought I came from the West”.
It is known that Bao Cuong is the eldest child in a family of two brothers, living with his grandmother in Sao Nam hamlet, Nghia Phuc commune (Tan Ky). Cuong loved singing since he was little, he liked to sing anytime, anywhere when he could: when he was herding buffalo and cows in the fields; when he followed his grandmother to weddings; when he was participating in cultural exchanges at school, in the district...
Cuong's parents were working in the South, so Cuong and his brother had to stay at their uncle's house, but his uncle and his wife were not at home, so his grandmother raised all three grandchildren (Cuong and his brother and one of his uncle's children). Cuong learned about this contest through television, so he registered on Facebook, wrote an application to the organizers, and asked his grandmother to take him to Hanoi and Ho Chi Minh City to compete.

Watching Bao Cuong's performance, singer Doan Trang shared: "What I like about you is that you bring surprises to everyone. A boy from Nghe An sings a Southern folk song, so sweet. And when you sing, everyone is shocked. I like those kinds of shocks."
Artist Thanh Bach commented: “Uncle Bach was surprised to know your determination to be a man. You have an independent and decisive personality and will do everything to realize your dreams. Other friends have relatives who support you in everything, but you are determined to fight independently like that, that spirit is needed for warriors in a competition like this.”
Mrs. Pham Thi Que (56 years old) - Cuong's grandmother said: "Cuong is a good grandchild, from grade 1 to grade 6 he is an advanced student, loves many subjects such as: English, Math, Physics, especially Music. In the house there is a small TV, only watches music programs but there are no conditions for him to sing karaoke or practice singing like many other families".
Mrs. Que was alone at home taking care of 7 acres of land, buffaloes and cows, and raising 3 grandchildren, very busy and hard-working. However, when she saw Cuong wanted to compete in a singing competition, she kept nagging: "Please take my child to compete too", even though she was short of money, but she loved her grandson, so she had to arrange her work and borrow 2 million VND to take Cuong to compete.
The grandmother and grandchild have made 3 trips: Hanoi once (March 12) to register and pre-qualify; Ho Chi Minh City twice (April 13, May 17) to compete. It is known that the organizing committee has encouraged and sponsored round-trip airfare, accommodation expenses for the grandmother and grandchild during the competition, so it was less difficult. "When I first arrived in Hanoi, I was also scared, not knowing if my grandchild could sing like that, but then there was a list to go to the South, and I was selected to enter the next round, so I was very excited" - Mrs. Que shared
On previous trips, after Cuong finished singing, the grandmother and grandson returned to their hometown, the grandmother took care of the housework, and the grandson went to school. On the third trip, after the exam, only Mrs. Que returned to her hometown to work, while Cuong stayed with his parents in Binh Duong to compete in the next round, returning to Nghe An after the summer.
When asked why he came to the show “Kid Duet Peak”, Cuong confided: “I love music, I want to be a singer so I entered the contest. Everyone, please support me in this contest”. Wishing that the dream of this boy who is passionate about singing will soon come true./.
