The boy found refuge north of Raqqa, in the Eyn Issa refugee camp.
"Six months ago, IS fighters slit my father's throat in the middle of the city. They accused him of supporting coalition aircraft and the Syrian Democratic Forces (DSS). He was killed in front of everyone. They filmed the execution and posted it on social media," Jasim Mihemed recalled.
Once, when I tried to secretly go online, I accidentally saw a video of my father's murder. My father was innocent, his enemies blamed him. Daesh fighters killed him to threaten other residents of the city.
IS terrorists regularly carry out such acts in downtown areas, so that everyone is afraid of them.
According to the teenager, after his father's murder, his family's life in the Rimele neighborhood literally turned into hell:
“We were very scared. Me, my mother and my five brothers wanted to escape from Raqqa, but we couldn’t do it. The fact is that the terrorists don’t allow anyone to leave the city. Those who try to escape are either arrested or executed.
After the DSS units entered the city and our neighborhood was cleared of IS, at the first opportunity we fled the city as soon as possible. We had nothing with us, no food, no money.
We told the DSS soldiers everything, and they took us to the refugee camp. We want our city to be liberated from IS as soon as possible, and we can return. We want to go to our father's grave and pay our respects to him," Mihamed said.
