In 2006, the incident of a newborn baby boy abandoned by his mother and then eaten by animals, losing his genitals and one leg, shocked the public. After nearly 10 years, the story of Thien Nhan's life was presented in the most realistic and complete way through the film "The Fire of Goodness" as a message of love, so that people can live together better.
These days, a realistic film about a boy named Thien Nhan called “Fire of Goodness” was shown at two cinema complexes: Ngoc Khanh (523 Kim Ma, Hanoi) and Tan Son Nhat (Pho Quang, Truong Son, Tan Binh District, Ho Chi Minh City). “Fire of Goodness” was made in the realistic film genre.
Director Dang Hong Giang spent more than 3 years to complete the 77-minute film. The film takes the audience to the countryside of Nui Thanh, Quang Nam, to meet the people who found and took Thien Nhan to the emergency room. The audience also witnessed the moment Thien Nhan was given emergency surgery by doctors and nurses of Quang Nam hospital and named Thien Nhan with the hope that the boy will become a good person and do good deeds in the future...
The confidences of Ms. Mai Anh - a brave woman who, despite having two sons, still adopted the boy. The audience also accompanied Ms. Mai Anh and her son, Thien Nhan and his godfather to Thailand and the US with the hope that Thien Nhan would become a human being with all his organs. From the US, through Professor Dinh Tue, the mother and son got to know Dr. Roberto DeCastro (Italian) and learned for the first time about genital reconstruction surgery.
A good sign, but the surgery cost of more than 1.4 billion VND was beyond the means of the mother and her family. But immediately, thousands of kind-hearted people contributed funds to support the surgery. And the mother and her child went to Italy to "create a beautiful bird" for Thien Nhan, which was also the first step for love to spread and multiply.
Perhaps, during the days in Italy to operate on Thien Nhan, Ms. Mai Anh and her friends did not expect that, after Thien Nhan, there would be hundreds of other children who would also receive genital reconstruction surgery. An interesting detail is that Dr. Robeto DeCastro performed free surgery on Thien Nhan. And by chance, since knowing Thien Nhan and Ms. Mai Anh, through the "Thien Nhan and Friends Fund", Dr. Robeto has come to Vietnam to perform free surgery on hundreds of children. Up to now, 147 cases have received free surgery, successfully reconstructing genitals.
There are currently more than 1,000 cases waiting in line for their turn. It is known that next November, Dr. Roberto will continue to come to Vietnam to operate on cases. With the desire to multiply good things, director Dang Hong Giang has started making the film "Fire of Goodness" with all the meticulousness and care. The film was selected to open the 2014 New York Independent Film Festival (USA) and is the film representing Vietnam in the series "Panorama - selected world cinema" at the 2014 Hanoi International Film Festival.
Director Hong Giang said: “When “The Fire of Kindness” was shown in New York, what I was most happy about was that what I expressed through visual language was understood by the West. I realized that with good things and compassion, we in the East and the West are the same.”...
