It was one day in April 2013 when Jorgelina Cardoso's wife went into labor, despite being only six months pregnant. Baby Mia, born via Cesarean section, experienced various complications and had to be monitored in a special ward for two months.

Nevertheless, Di Maria and his wife fought alongside their young child until the very end. Two months later, Mia was able to return home, although she still needed to be intubated. Now, she is over a year old, and the 26-year-old midfielder still hasn't forgotten the difficult time his daughter went through. According to the Argentinian midfielder, Mia helped him and his wife Cardoso gain more faith and strength in life: "That was the most difficult time in my life, but my daughter showed me that everything can be overcome. We can absolutely overcome anything if we truly strive and are determined."
