It was one day in April 2013 when Jorgelina Cardoso’s wife showed signs of labor even though she was only 6 months pregnant. Baby Mia was born by cesarean section and had to be monitored in a special room for 2 months.

However, Di Maria and his wife still fought with their little girl to the end. Two months later, Mia was able to go home, although she still had to be intubated. Now, the baby is over 1 year old and the 26-year-old midfielder still has not forgotten the difficult time his daughter went through. According to the Argentine midfielder, it was Mia who helped him and his wife Cardoso have more faith and determination in life later on: "That was the most difficult time in my life, but my daughter showed me that everything can be overcome. We can completely overcome it if we really try and are determined."
