(Baonghean.vn) - Initially yielding economic benefits, the Quy Hop Youth Cattle Breeding Club has exploited the local potential for livestock farming and contributed to job creation for young people. These are positive signs brought about by the Quy Hop Youth Cattle Breeding Club.
| In early October 2014, the Quy Hop District Policy Bank decided to lend 600 million VND to the Chau Cuong Commune Youth Union (Quy Hop District) to purchase breeding cows from young people. |
| Shortly afterwards, the Chau Cuong commune youth union established a cattle breeding club with 20 members, organized training courses on cattle breeding techniques, barn construction, and grass cultivation for cattle. |
| The Chau Cuong commune Youth Union also proactively purchased 4 sao (approximately 0.4 hectares) of elephant grass seedlings for 2 million VND and distributed them to the households participating in the project for planting. |
| Youth union members help local people prepare land to plant elephant grass for breeding cattle. |
| Providing fertilizer to farmers for growing elephant grass. |
| Currently, in Chau Cuong, a new type of livestock farming has begun to emerge, involving management and proactive control over the feed source, such as growing grass for the cows, instead of allowing them to roam freely as before. |
| The feed for the cows is chopped into small pieces using a machine. |
| The local people have also begun to apply scientific advancements to livestock farming, such as ensiling green fodder, fermenting straw with urea, and supplementing concentrated feed in winter and when cows are newly pregnant. |
| The cattle herd is thriving, growing rapidly, and, thanks to the selection of a superior breed, is significantly larger than the local breed. The implementation of this cattle breeding project promises to help young people in Quy Hop improve their lives and become wealthy in their homeland. |
