Around July 2016, while drinking, Thuan told Dau that his niece, Xeo Thi U. (born 2002, residing in Bao Nam commune) wanted to work for a company in the South, and that her family was looking for help finding her a job. At that time, Dau told Thuan to ask if the family would give her a job.go to china to get marriedHowever, when this issue was brought up, the family did not agree because they thought the child was young and had to go to school.
Then, Thuan called his wife's sister, Cut Thi Bong, who was living in China, to ask if he could sell someone to China as a wife and how much it would cost. Bong promised that if the family agreed to send their child, they would receive 100 million VND.
About 2 days later, Dau and Thuan came to U.'s house to invite her to work at the company. At that time, U.'s parents were at work so they did not know that their child was being lured. U. followed Dau to catch a bus to Mong Cai (Quang Ninh). After that, both of them were picked up by Bong's people to go to China through a small border route.
After a period of staying at Bong's house, U. was sold to a Chinese man to be his wife for about 118 million VND. Bong gave Dau 105 million VND to take back to Vietnam. From that amount, Dau gave U.'s parents 100 million VND, Dau received 3 million VND, and Thuan received 2 million VND.
As for the victim, after living with her husband for 1 month, U. refused to marry this person anymore. Therefore, Bong sold U. to another person. In 2018, U. fled back to Vietnam. On July 21, 2022, the victim went to the police to report the criminal acts of the subjects. The investigation agency determined that at the time of being sold, the victim was only 14 years, 5 months and 28 days old.
At the trial, the defendants admitted their crimes and asked the court to consider reducing their sentences. The victim said she did not know she was being taken to China to get married and only thought she was going to work for a company.
