Bridge of love…
(Baonghean.vn) - In the past 11 months of 2023, the collective of cadres, reporters, and employees of Nghe An Newspaper has coordinated with organizations, units, businesses, and kind-hearted individuals to carry out many voluntary social activities, with a total value of over 2.2 billion VND.
Help people overcome floods
“Follow closely all developments, flood situations and the current state of life of the people of Quy Chau mountainous district to report timely news…” was the request of the Editorial Board of Nghe An Newspaper issued right in the first meeting on September 27. Just a few moments later, news and photo series about the current state of the flood in Quy Chau mountainous district flooded the publications of Nghe An Newspaper.

From students removing tiles from their rented houses to escape the flood, to people looking in shock as their property was swept away by the flood; to officials, functional forces, and youth union members wading in the water to rescue their compatriots; to residential areas, fields, and roads submerged in water... Those news and photo series seemed to carry the salty taste of tears from people in flooded areas.
Because right after that, when Nghe An Newspaper issued an appeal to support the people and students in the flood-hit area of Quy Chau with rice, essential supplies, books, school supplies, etc., many organizations and individuals with kind hearts joined in to support.

On October 1, the first relief shipment of 3 tons of rice, 120 kg of peanuts, and 4 boxes of clothes arrived to flood-affected families in 3 communes: Chau Hanh, Chau Thang, and Chau Tien. In addition, 30 severely damaged households in these 3 communes were supported with 30 additional gifts, each worth 500,000 VND, and students in Chau Thang commune were supported with 4 boxes of books and notebooks.
The second support trip left Vinh city on the morning of October 5, arriving at Khe Khoang and Khe Can villages (Chau Binh commune) to give each village 500 kg of rice, 50 barrels of water and 11 cash packages (each package worth 500,000 VND); to Quy Chau High School to give boarding students 1 ton of rice, 40 barrels of water and support teachers who had to overcome the consequences of natural disasters with 10 million VND; and to Chau Thang Primary School to give 1,460 student notebooks and 35 barrels of water.

Unlike usual, due to the busy work, the leaders of Nghe An Newspaper had to entrust some reporters and staff to carry out the task of delivering relief goods to the flood-hit area of Quy Chau. They are reporters Thanh Cuong, Thu Huong, Dinh Tuyen and Hoang Vinh - office staff. After completing the task, these men and women were jokingly called by their colleagues as 4-in-1 staff. Because in Vinh city, they are the "cuu van" carrying and transporting relief goods onto the truck; on the way, they are the people connecting with each flood-affected area to regulate the distribution of goods; when arriving in the flood area, they become representatives of Nghe An Newspaper to deliver goods and gifts to people and students; and of course, they still take on their main role - as reporters recording information and images to promptly update news articles on publications...

What cannot be ignored is the immeasurable affection of the officials and people in the flood-affected areas. Because she received the relief goods in time, Ms. Lim Thi Tuyet (Khe Khoang village, Chau Binh commune) sobbed with reporter Thu Huong: "The flood swept away all my family's assets and food. Thanks to this concern, we have rice and drinking water to sustain our lives in the coming days..." Or as teacher Tran Thi Hang - Principal of Chau Thang Primary School said after receiving the support: "Drinking water and books are meaningful gifts that help the school and students overcome difficulties and feel secure in their education and learning...".
The total value of goods and necessities through 2 rounds of support for people in the flooded area of Quy Chau is over 166 million VND (of which officials, reporters, employees and children of Nghe An Newspaper donated over 40 million VND; the rest came from readers, organizations and benefactors).
Bridge of love
There are two volunteer activities that Nghe An Newspaper has been carrying out close to the 62nd Anniversary of its founding (November 10, 1961 - November 10, 2023). That is connecting and coordinating with Hanoi Heart Hospital to organize a congenital heart disease screening program for children in Quy Hop and Nghi Loc districts on November 11 and 12; connecting and calling on Vixito High-Tech Cement Company - TTG Group to donate 70 tons of cement with a total value of over 100 million VND to Muong Qua High School and Mon Son Commune (Con Cuong) to build schools and roads.
In these two meaningful activities, the good news is that they will be extended in the future. As the leader of Vixito High-Tech Cement Company said, after the trip, we understood more about the Western region of Nghe An; to have a commitment to continue accompanying Nghe An Newspaper to implement the program "With Vixito, renovate schools for children".

Going back in time to the past days of 2023, thanks to the solidarity and companionship of organizations, units, businesses, and individuals with good hearts, Nghe An Newspaper has organized many practical and effective social and charitable activities. Those are the activities "Tet for the poor" carried out in the first month of 2023, Nghe An Newspaper and sponsors gave 570 Tet gifts (500,000 VND with the Spring Quy Mao newspaper publication) to poor households in Xieng My commune (Tuong Duong) and many poor households in the province.
As for Xieng My commune, which is a unit of Nghe An Newspaper receiving support according to the policy of the Provincial Party Committee and Provincial People's Committee, in 2023, it called for support of 500 seedlings to renovate mixed gardens and develop household economy; donated 400 warm clothes and 100 warm blankets to students and the poor; coordinated with Hoa Hiep Company Limited to support 50 million VND to build a house of gratitude for war invalids in difficult circumstances...

Entering the summer of 2023, the 25th Youth - Children Football Tournament organized by Nghe An Newspaper has achieved great success, attracting more than 354 athletes who are teenagers - children of 28 football teams from districts, cities and towns. The success of the Youth - Children Football Tournament must mention the particularly important contribution of the main sponsor, TH Group - Bac A Bank and 22 other sponsors. From a funding source of up to more than 1.2 billion VND, in this tournament, Nghe An Newspaper awarded 98 scholarships to students who are good at studying - good at playing football; 20 scholarships to students of SOS Children's Village Vinh; awarded 18 bicycles to 18 students from poor and near-poor households....

Faced with the difficult situation of 35 Dan Lai households in Ba Ha village (Thach Ngan commune, Con Cuong), in April 2023, Nghe An Newspaper called on business organizations to support rice and necessities worth nearly 30 million VND. On July 13, 2023, based on information from Nghe An Newspaper through the article "Worrying with Ba Ha", comrade Nguyen Van Thong - Standing Deputy Secretary of the Provincial Party Committee, together with the volunteer group Niem Tin, visited the Dan Lai Ba Ha people and supported rice and essential foods worth a total of 50 million VND.
It is difficult to list all the social activities that the staff, reporters and employees of Nghe An Newspaper have carried out in 2023. However, statistics from the Communications Department of Nghe An Newspaper show that in the 11 months of 2023, the staff, reporters and employees of Nghe An Newspaper coordinated with organizations, units, businesses and individuals with good hearts to carry out many charitable activities with a total value of over 2.2 billion VND. This is a meaningful number before the 62nd anniversary of Nghe An Newspaper's founding. It is a joy for the staff, reporters and employees of Nghe An Newspaper, because they always carry within themselves the wish: to always be a "bridge of love" to help the difficult areas of the province change, helping the poor rise up in life.
