Vietnamese futsal player: 'It was like a dream to win a ticket to the World Cup'
Defeating defending champion Japan, reaching the semi-finals of the Asian tournament and going straight to the World Cup is a dream come true for the Vietnamese futsal players.
"I don't know what word to use to describe it - wonderful", player Tran Van Vu shared.Van Vu was the owner of two goals in the quarter-final match where Vietnamese futsal eliminated the reigning continental champion, contributing greatly to the historic victory for the home team.
"I would like to thank coach Tran Anh Tu, the coaching staff, teammates and all the brothers who have worked tirelessly with me over the past time to help me make my dream come true. Thank you to the fans who have always accompanied and followed the team throughout the past time and now, everyone can enjoy this happy moment. The road is still ahead and we will try our best to compete for the flag and the shirt," he added.

Player Thai Huy, who scored in the final minutes of extra time to tie the match 4-4, sending the match into a penalty shootout, exclaimed: “It seemed like a dream but it was real. A beautiful dream, you have to believe it even if you don’t believe it.”
Meanwhile, the person who successfully took the decisive penalty kick, bringing Vietnam to the World Cup, Phung Trong Luan, briefly described this miracle: "Nothing is more wonderful."
Controlling his emotions compared to his players, coach Bruno Garcia said: "This is a great victory for Vietnamese futsal when we defeated the two-time Asian champions. Surely, fans at home will be very happy with this achievement."
The Spanish coach immediately reminded his players of the task ahead of the team: "We are very happy to make history. But let's enjoy it a little and focus on the match against Iran, another futsal powerhouse."
On February 19, the Vietnamese team will meet Iran in the semi-final at 9:00 p.m.
