Russian hockey player announces creation of 'Putin's team'

Russian hockey player Alexander Ovechkin announced the creation of the Putin Team social movement in support of the country's leader. The athlete wrote on Instagram.

"I have never hidden my attitude towards our President and have always supported him. I believe that there are many people who support Vladimir Putin," Ovechkin wrote. The athlete called on the Russian leader's supporters to unite and "show everyone a strong and united country."

Alexander Ovechkin emphasized that recently in the Western press he often comes across the phrase: "Putin's team" - and he likes it.

"Being part of such a team is a source of pride for me, it's like the feeling when you wear the Russian national team jersey and know that the whole country is supporting you," the hockey player added.
