Vietnamese-American player pursued by Barcelona, once revealed the possibility of playing for the Vietnam National Team
Overseas Vietnamese player Do Chung Nguyen has been called up to the Bulgaria U20 team after finishing the season with Slavia Sofia club.
On June 11, Vietnamese-American player Do Chung Nguyen participated in the 0-0 draw between U20 Bulgaria and U21 Azerbaijan in Baku. In this match, Do Chung Nguyen wore the number 18 shirt and entered the field from the bench in the 58th minute.
Do Chung Nguyen previously finished the season with Slavia Sofia. The 19-year-old midfielder made 11 appearances in the 2023/24 season. The midfielder, born in 2005, helped Slavia Sofia finish 10th in the Bulgarian Premier League.
Previously in March this year, Do Chung Nguyen was named in the Bulgaria U21 squad for the European U21 qualifiers. The Vietnamese-American player was on the Bulgaria U21 squad's roster for the 1-0 win over Poland U21. However, Do Chung Nguyen did not get to play.
Earlier this year, Do Chung Nguyen played in the European U19 qualifiers for U19 Bulgaria. Do Chung Nguyen played the full 90 minutes in three of these matches, in which U19 Bulgaria drew 0-0 with U19 Scotland and U19 Serbia. In addition, U19 Bulgaria lost 1-2 to U19 Andorra.
