At the end of August, the State Council for Acceptance of Construction Works will conduct a final inspection of the quality of the Tan Vu - Lach Huyen bridge.

Mr. Bui Huy Kiem - Head of Project 3, Project Management Board 2 (Ministry of Transport) said that some technical errorsat the longest highway and sea-crossing bridge project in Vietnam, Tan Vu - Lach Huyen (Hai Phong)has been fixed by the contractors.

Specifically, at 15 girder joints with water seepage, the contractor injected slow-hardening epoxy glue to seal them tightly. At the box girder with different elevations of the Cam River Bridge, the contractor and the supervising consultant implemented a solution to compensate for the warping with mortar. The investor also inspected and accepted the organization to complete the asphalt concrete pavement of the bridge deck.

The contractor has removed the old gravel layer at some locations of this sea-crossing highway to replace it with new gravel layer, ensuring technical requirements..

At the end of August, the State Council for Acceptance of Construction Works will conduct a final inspection of the technical quality of the project before putting it into use. On September 4, the Tan Vu - Lach Huyen Bridge will be opened to traffic for phase one operation.

Previously, during the inspection in May, the Acceptance Council pointed out a number of technical errors in the project. Accordingly,, through observing the quality of asphalt concrete construction in some locations on the bridge surface, it shows that the flatness does not meet technical requirements, the construction of longitudinal joints is not good; the surface has many tire marks, some locations of asphalt concrete surface are loose, with large voids.

The construction of the Cam River Bridge with a T-beam does not ensure the geometrical dimensions according to the design, so when installed, the height was about 5 cm higher than the remaining beams. Currently, this bridge has been constructed with connecting beams, so fixing and repairing is very difficult.

The Tan Vu - Lach Huyen highway project is 15 km long (including the bridge and road). The starting point is at Tan Vu intersection, Hanoi - Hai Phong expressway, the end point is at Lach Huyen Port gate. Of which, the bridge section is 4.9 km long, 16 m wide with 4 lanes. After completion, this will be the longest sea-crossing bridge in Vietnam.
