Yellow flower tamarind is also known as tac tuong thao, toan tuong thao, ba chia, tam diep toan... It is a perennial herb that grows close to the ground. The stem is slender, usually light red, slightly hairy. The leaves have long petioles bearing 3 thin heart-shaped leaflets. The flowers grow in clusters of 2-3 flowers, sometimes 4 yellow flowers. The capsule is elongated, when ripe it opens with 5 valves, throwing the seeds far away. The seeds are oval, dark brown, flat, and have humps. The plant grows wild everywhere, often in cool, moist soil in gardens, on the edges of fields and vacant lots. People often use the fresh plant as a vegetable and medicine, rarely drying it.

Prescription using yellow flower tamarind:
Treat sore throat, sore throat: 50g yellow tamarind, 2g salt, chew and swallow both slowly.
High fever, restlessness, thirst: Crush a handful of yellow tamarind flowers, add water and squeeze to get the juice to drink.
Cough due to heat: 40g yellow flower tamarind, 40g pennywort, 20g river bone leaves, 20g chicken grass. Use all herbs fresh, wash, crush, squeeze to get the juice, add 1 teaspoon of sugar, boil again, divide into 3 doses to drink during the day.
Cure whooping cough: 10g yellow flower tamarind leaves, 12g lemon root, 8g chives leaves, 8g river bone leaves, 5g bitter melon seeds, 2g alum, boil to get concentrated water, add sugar to drink.
Support treatment of high blood pressure: 30g of yellow flower tamarind, 10g of dried grass, 15g of yellow chrysanthemum, decoct and drink once a day.
Support treatment of hepatitis, jaundice: 30g of yellow flower tamarind, boil to get the water and divide into several times to drink during the day. Or: 30g of tamarind, 30g of lean pork, cook into soup, eat both the water and the solids.
Constipation: A handful of yellow tamarind and plantain each (about 20g), wash, add a little sugar, crush, squeeze out a cup of juice and drink.
Injury, pain and swelling from falling: Heat a large handful of yellow tamarind and rub it on the injured area.
Note:The stems and leaves of the tamarind tree contain oxalic acid and especially potassium oxalate in high concentrations, which can form oxalate stones in the bladder and cause kidney stones. Therefore, people who have had kidney stones should not use it. Pregnant women should be cautious.
