Hai Phong fans heavily fined, Hang Day stadium gets "collateral damage"
Regarding the incident of Hai Phong fans lighting flares during the match between Hanoi FC and Hai Phong on the evening of March 11, this morning the Nuti Cafe V-League Executive Board sent a document to the VFF Disciplinary Board for handling.
During the 90 minutes of official play and even extra time, Hai Phong fans continuously lit flares in the stands, then threw them onto the field and onto the track.
The peak of the flare display by Hai Phong fans was in the final minutes of extra time of the match. Dozens of flares were thrown onto the field in a defiant manner, creating a thick smoke screen on Hang Day Stadium.

To ensure the safety of the players, referee Ngo Duy Lan had to blow the whistle to end the match early. Present on the field, VPF President and Head of the V-League Executive Board Tran Anh Tu, along with Deputy Executive Board Nguyen Minh Ngoc, VFF General Secretary Le Hoai Anh, and General Director of the General Department of Sports and Physical Training Vuong Bich Thang all witnessed the flare-fueled chaos of Hai Phong fans from beginning to end.

Mr. Tu said that this morning, the V-League Executive Board will meet and summarize the reports, then transfer the file to the Disciplinary Board and this agency will propose a specific form of handling. The viewpoint of the tournament Executive Board is to strictly handle the repeated behavior and at the same time challenge the Organizing Committee of Hai Phong fans.

Not only did Hai Phong fans face heavy penalties, but Hang Day Stadium's organizers were also affected because they did not do a good job of checking fans who brought flares into the stadium.
Last season, also at Hang Day Stadium, after the riot, Hai Phong fans were banned from cheering away from home for the rest of the season, but in the first match of this year's season, Hai Phong fans repeated the same ugly scenes.
