Angry Chinese fans demand Tevez's expulsion

Striker Carlos Tevez is facing fierce criticism from fans of Shanghai Greenland Shenhua and China for allegedly sitting on a silver spoon and disrespecting the country's football.

According to Shanghai Daily, after seeing the team drop to the bottom half of the Chinese Super League (CSL) this year and be eliminated from the AFC Champions League, Shanghai Greenland Shenhua fans have almost lost patience with Tevez and Uruguayan coach Gus Poyet (former Chelsea and Tottenham midfielder).

Because before the season, the above team spent a lot of money to strengthen its force, notably the contract to recruit Tevez earlier this year. The Argentine striker joined Shanghai Greenland Shenhua from Boca Juniors with a "huge" salary of 38 million euros (42 million USD)/year, helping Tevez become one of the highest-paid players in the world. However, instead of making "worth the money" contributions, Tevez seems to want to "sit back and enjoy the benefits".

Accordingly, in nearly 6 months wearing the Shanghai Greenland Shenhua shirt, the former Manchester United and Juventus striker left a disappointing image when he only scored 1 goal from the 11m mark in 4 appearances before announcing that he was injured and could not play.

Criticism of Tevez began in April when Shanghai Greenland Shenhua fans spotted the Argentine striker at Shanghai Disneyland on the same day the team had an important match.

Most recently, Shanghai Greenland Shenhua fans became even more furious when Tevez said that Chinese clubs are 50 years behind European teams and hinted that he would leave at the end of this season. Tevez even called Chinese players “clumsy” and “naive”.

Tevez’s actions have angered Shanghai Greenland Shenhua fans and Chinese football, who are demanding the Argentine striker be expelled from the country. One Shanghai Greenland Shenhua fan wrote: “Tevez’s contract is the worst in the club’s history.”

Another fan criticized: “Tevez should leave Shenhua. Compared to the players running on the field, Tevez deliberately did not play because he was afraid of getting injured… The deal to recruit Tevez is really not worth it.” A fan with the account RONALDO7wbfp on the social network Twitter wrote: “He (Carlos Tevez) came here because of his high salary and because he is a member of Disneyland.”
