Vietnamese fans in Malaysia face difficulties in getting tickets to Bukit Zalil Stadium
(Baonghean.vn) - Bukit Jalil is the largest stadium in Southeast Asia with a capacity of about 87,000 seats. However, the organizers still cannot meet the demand to watch the first leg of the AFF Cup 2018 final between Malaysia and Vietnam on December 11.
This anticipation from Malaysian fans created a chaotic scene when the organizers officially opened ticket sales. After only 10 minutes, fans started to lose their composure and jostle. The situation was so serious that some people had to go to the emergency room and the police had to intervene. The organizers then quickly issued an official announcement that all tickets were sold out:
“All tickets for the first leg of the AFF Cup final between Malaysia and Vietnam have been sold out at the counter. The Football Association of Malaysia (FAM) would like to inform you that the ticket counters at gates A and E have been closed as tickets were sold out as soon as they opened at 10:00 this morning. For those who were unable to purchase tickets, FAM sincerely apologizes for not being able to accommodate all of them. We only have 80,000 tickets. We hope you understand and move away from the ticketing area of Bukit Jalil Stadium.”

According to FAM's arrangement, Vietnamese fans will sit in the E stand. However, the tickets in this area have been sold out, causing Vietnamese fans to have a lot of difficulties in getting tickets. Many people lined up but were unsuccessful.

Therefore, many people were forced to choose the option of buying tickets on the black market outside the market. Ms. Nguyen My Nhi, a fan from Saigon, after witnessing the chaotic scene this morning, chose to buy tickets on the black market for 120 Ringgit, or nearly 600,000 VND. Ms. Nhi said: "We can only ask the students here, but we can only find 2 tickets on the black market, while many people still do not have tickets."
Mr. Nguyen Ngu, a member of the Vietnam Football Fans Club - VFS, also did not receive any information from the Vietnam Football Federation and had to accept buying 20 tickets for the E stand from unofficial distribution channels for his delegation.
