The story began when Vu Van Thanh (born in 1992 – son of defendant Vu Van Hoan) and Nguyen Thi L. (born in 1998) fell in love. In 2013, the two “crossed the line” leading to L. becoming pregnant.

Regarding the incident, Mr. Nguyen Minh Tuan (born in 1970) - father of child L. filed a complaint. Thanh was prosecuted by the police investigation agency, Thanh Tri District Police, Hanoi for the crime of Sexual intercourse with a child.

Thanh fled and was wanted, at the same time L also left and his address is currently unknown.

The child's incident led to a conflict between the two families. Minh Tuan heard that Van Thanh had tricked and sold his daughter to China, so he was even more hurt and repeatedly went to Hoan's house to cause trouble.

On the night of November 19, 2014, this 46-year-old man went to the family fish pond and cursed at Hoan's house, but there was no response. Still feeling angry, Minh Tuan rode his motorbike to Hoan's house to cause trouble. At the same time, Hoan returned from the fish pond and heard the curses, angrily grabbed two bamboo sticks and came to beat him.

Seeing Hoan holding a stick, Minh Tuan cursed and challenged: "Do you like to fight?" and got on his motorbike to go to the fish pond to get the knife.

Back at the Nhi Chau village market area, some people holding knives and others holding sticks rushed into a melee.

At this time, Vu Van Hop, Hoan's younger brother, came out of the house to the market area. Hearing the shouting, he discovered that his brother was fighting with the neighbors and rushed in, holding a stick and repeatedly hitting Minh Tuan on the head.

At the same time, Ms. Vu Thi Viet - Minh Tuan's wife ran over. Seeing her husband being beaten, she also jumped in to help.

Hearing the shouts, Vu Van Tuan - Vu Van Hoan's son ran out of the family beer hall, picked up a stick and hit Tuan hard. While hitting, he cursed.

The fight ended when Minh Tuan fell to the ground and lay motionless. People took him to Viet Duc Hospital for emergency treatment, but he died on November 20, 2014. According to the autopsy results, the victim died from severe traumatic brain injury.

Vu Van Hop (born in 1974), Vu Van Hoan (born in 1972), Vu Van Tuan (born in 1994) - all residing in Nhi Chau village, Lien Minh commune, Thanh Tri district, Hanoi were arrested later. Hop was prosecuted for murder. Hoan and Tuan were prosecuted for disturbing public order.

For his crime, on August 25, the Hanoi Court sentenced Hop to 14 years in prison. For the same crime of disturbing public order, Van Hoan received a sentence of 24 months in prison, and Van Tuan received a sentence of 21 months and 5 days in prison./.
