Mr. Luong Van Kham is married and lives alone, and often drinks alcohol. On the morning of March 30, Mr. Kham visited his father's house while he was intoxicated. His mother was away, so Mr. Kham went inside to talk to his father. After a while, they got into an argument. The drunken father and son argued for a while and then started fighting. Mr. Hoc grabbed a sharp iron rod and chased his son. Mr. Kham escaped to the stilt house and set the house on fire.

Seeing this, Mr. Hoc took a hoe and hit his son repeatedly on the head, until he saw his son collapse in a pool of blood. At this time, local people were also present, rushed in to put out the fire and then called the police. Mr. Hoc was arrested shortly after.

At the trial, the jury determined that Mr. Hoc committed the murder in a state of extreme agitation. The victim’s representative, Mr. Kham’s wife, and Mr. Hoc’s wife both stood up to ask for a reduced sentence for the defendant. In addition to the 4-year prison sentence, the defendant must compensate the victim’s family more than 20 million VND.
