Tan Thuy village, Dien Nguyen commune, has 40/45 households making a living on the Bung river by fishing. To do this job, each household spends 30-40 million VND to build a small boat, buy some nets such as: cotton nets, fishing nets, hooks, traps, etc.

The job of casting nets on the river requires skill from the stage of choosing the location to cast the net, how to place the net so that the nets are evenly stretched, in order to catch a lot of shrimp and fish. And for a long time, the fishing profession has become a family tradition of many households living on both sides of the Bung River.

Mr. Nguyen Viet An - Tan Thuy Hamlet, Dien Nguyen Commune, Dien Chau confided: This family's profession has been a tradition, passed down from father to son for a long time and is considered a main profession.

The livelihood of the fishing village households on the Bung River usually starts from 4-5 pm. Families row their boats to cast nets, and at 4 am they wake up again to row their boats to bring the nets back to collect the products. Each day, each boat can catch from 2-6 kg of seafood depending on the number of nets.

Not only Tan Thuy village, but currently there are also hundreds of households in 7 communes such as: Dien Hoa, Dien Quang, Dien Nguyen, Dien Ky, Dien Van... living off the aquatic resources from Bung River. Through many occupations such as: Catching crabs in mangrove forests; diving for clams, mussels; raising brackish water aquatic products...
