Humid weather makes many parts of the car easily damaged due to water accumulation, the interior has a bad smell...so drivers need to know how to take care of the car properly.

The weather in the North is entering the humid season. These days, the humidity in the air is high, about 90%, leading to the phenomenon of water vapor condensing and condensing on the surface of all objects.

A humid environment is a favorable condition for mold and harmful bacteria to grow. Not only does it affect human health, humid weather also causes objects to deteriorate much faster, including cars.

According to experts, due to prolonged drizzle, high humidity, acid concentration and other corrosive substances, as well as dust and industrial ash in rainwater are much higher than in summer rain, these effects make cars more susceptible to damage.

Specifically, in the humid season, the car body is oxidized and corroded faster. Humid weather and high humidity will promote the oxidation process more strongly. Therefore, if you have to travel frequently in such humid drizzle weather, your car will quickly become old and degraded.

In addition, observing with the naked eye, we can see that in the humid season, the entire surface of the car is often covered with a layer of fog. This is the condition of water condensation on the car, limiting visibility, causing danger when driving.

Not only that, the prolonged wet condition of the car will adversely affect other parts such as the car seats, steering wheel, car floor... and most importantly the engine block, electrical system. These parts will be very susceptible to corrosion, or damage due to moisture... and therefore, the life of the car will also be greatly reduced.

With prolonged humidity, cars will be a favorable environment for bacteria and mold to grow, causing unpleasant odors.

Therefore, to overcome the above situations, drivers must properly maintain and take care of their cars during the long wet season. Experts offer the following solutions:

Park in a dry and covered place

Park your car in a dry, well-ventilated area. This is the best way to keep it away from corrosive substances and oxidation. If you must leave it outdoors, use a car cover.

Clean the car

When cleaned regularly, the oxidation process will take place more slowly, the car is always in a clean condition which is also very good for the health of the user. If cleaning the car at home, the owner should first clean up the objects in the interior compartment neatly, use a vacuum cleaner to suck up all the dirt on the surfaces. Then use a specialized cleaning solution for cars to clean.

After cleaning the car, use a dry towel to wipe the entire car and close the door, turn on the air conditioner in Dry mode to dry and dehumidify. At the same time, activate the windshield drying function to help this part dry and shiny.

Wash your car regularly

Being afraid to wash your car because you think it will get dirty right after washing is a mistake in the process of preserving your car. Because the mud that sticks to your car for a long time has a higher concentration of corrosive substances than in rainwater. Although washing your car regularly does not keep your car clean, it does reduce the amount of corrosive substances that stick to your car. Moreover, when your car is washed regularly, the conditions for oxidation to occur will be reduced, and rust will be minimized.

Electrical and air filter system maintenance

High humidity causes the electrical system, especially the electrical connections on the car, to oxidize quickly. Therefore, it is not surprising that the car often stalls or loses power during the drizzly season. In addition, the electrical system is also very susceptible to power outages and even short circuits. To avoid this phenomenon, it is best to maintain the electrical system regularly. Pay attention to connecting and protecting the wires and connections very carefully.

In addition, the air filter must also be given special attention, especially for vehicles that often travel long distances or in dusty environments. A wet air filter is just as harmful as a thick layer of dust. Therefore, you should regularly take your vehicle to a service center to clean the air filter at least once a month.

Do not lower the car window while moving

When driving in humid conditions, lowering the car windows will allow the humid environment outside to rush inside. It is best to close the doors, turn on the air conditioner in Dry mode or a suitable cooling temperature. Do not leave the air conditioner in hot mode because the water vapor will not evaporate but instead condense more seriously due to the temperature difference.

Use dehumidifiers and scented items

Car owners should equip their cars with items that can absorb air humidity, helping the car space always dry and airy. In addition, depending on personal preferences, car owners can also choose scented objects to place in the car such as essential oils, coffee bags... or fragrant pineapple.
